SPECIAL PRAYER FOR UNITY AND PEACE — Rev. Martha M. Shiverick

CALL TO CONFESSION – Annie Castro and Alejandra Rondon

Beloved, we are called to live in right relationship with God by loving one another. Therefore, let us confess our sins to the One who pardons our offenses.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Loving God, we confess that we have sinned against you by not honoring you or loving one another. When we ignore injustice in the world our worship brings you no delight. Make haste to help us that we may stand in right relationship with you and the whole of your creation and sing your praises through the mercy of Jesus Christ. Amen.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON

We are all siblings as we are children of God. We rejoice and are glad, for God is mighty to save and comes to you in peace to forgive, restore, and strengthen you as a disciple of Christ.

THE RESPONSE

DEDICATION OF 2021 STEWARDSHIP PLEDGES — Kyle Dettloff

One: The Creator of all life and love has endowed our earth with bountiful blessings.

All: God has created humanity to share the wonder and joy of these blessings.

One: All thanks be to God, Giver and Receiver of all that is good.

All: We return God’s portions of what God has given us: our time, the fruits of our labors, our commitment.

One: May the giving from the fullness of our lives be acceptable in God’s sight.

All: May the gifts we bring prove God’s Rule is at hand – both now and to come.

One: God calls us to participate in the construction of a New Reality. We now dedicate these our pledges for the year 2021 toward the enrichment of our life as a covenant community, and toward the ministry God has given us.

All: We thank God for this church, for the community we have together, the love and comfort we share and for the mission you have given us to this community and world. As we dedicate our pledges for next year we do so confident that Riviera’s ministries will continue to feed us spiritually and emotionally so that we share your love with the world.

Praise God from whom all blessings flow! Amen.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE –– Bryan Page

Let us pray for the world, saying,
O God, make speed to save us.
O Lord, make haste to help us.

God, we pray for all who seek your radiant light in the darkened corners of our world; may we find our way to you through our love for one another.
O God, make speed to save us.
O Lord, make haste to help us.

We pray for those who are oppressed and whose lives are at risk by institutional racism and bigotry in our country; bless us with a joy for justice that all may share in the blessings of this life, walking in right relationship with you by caring for our neighbor.
O God, make speed to save us.
O Lord, make haste to help us.

We pray for all who are affected by the pandemic.
We pray for the vulnerable, the lonely, the ill and those that care for them.
Keep those we love safe and help others to understand their responsibility to the neighbor they know and love and the one they do not know. Help us to love and care for each other under the protection of your sheltering sky.
O God, make speed to save us.
O Lord, make haste to help us.

Lord, we pray for our nation.
As we live into the results of our election this past week. We pray for peace, for our country to come together for the common good. We pray for all to understand the role and responsibility of citizenship and promoting the common good that we all may flourish as one family under God with justice and freedom for all.
O God, make speed to save us.
O Lord, make haste to help us.

THE LORD’S PRAYER

For the Lord’s Prayer we appreciate the diverse traditions and backgrounds that make up the Riviera family of faith, and encourage you to use whatever words for this prayer are meaningful for you.

Our Creator, who art in heaven, hallowed be your name.

Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as in heaven.

Give us today our daily bread.

Forgive our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us.

Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil.

For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.
