OPENING HYMN

CHIMING OF THE HOUR & WELCOMING THE LIGHT – Graham and Emilee

WELCOME – Rev. Martha M. Shiverick

CALL TO WORSHIP — Dylan

Leader Today we are worshiping God!
All: Let us Worship our Creator.
Leader: The God who connects us all; different peoples, different lives, different histories. Please join us in worshiping God.
All: We give you thanks for creating diversity in all, in this church today.
Leader: We will give thanks to the Lord with our whole heart; We will tell of all your wonderful deeds.
All: We will be glad and exult in you; We will sing praise to your name, O Most High.
Leader: Let us praise God.
All: Amen

CALL TO CONFESSION — Luke

Though our sins are like darkness there shall be light.
“Though our sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.”
Though they are like shadows they shall be illuminated.
We show gratitude towards you gracious God.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION — Jackie

Have mercy on me, O God, in your faithful love, in your great tenderness wipe away my offences; wash me thoroughly from my guilt, purify me from my sin.

For I am well aware of my offences, my sin is constantly in my mind. Against you, you alone, I have sinned, I have done what you see to be wrong, that you may show your saving justice when you pass sentence, and your victory may appear when you give judgment, remember, I was born guilty, a sinner from the moment of conception. But you delight in sincerity of heart, and in secret you teach me wisdom. God, create in me a clean heart, renew within me a resolute spirit, do not thrust me away from your presence, do not take away from me your spirit of holiness. Give me back the joy of your salvation.

Merciful God forgive our sins that are like scarlet shall they be as white as snow and empower us to strive anew to make our world a place in which your loving peace abounds.

(Brief silence of confession)

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON – Luke

Hear the Good News!
Do not fear, says the Lord, for I have redeemed you.
You are renewed.
You are loved.
You are embraced.
You are forgiven.
Believe this Gospel and go forth to live in peace. Live in the sure hope of God’s promise.
Thanks be to God Amen.

THE RESPONSE

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE — Dustin

Let us unite our hearts in prayer, saying merciful God, Hear our prayer.
God, we pray for our church;

We pray for Gage and Dani, who are away in the military, may you be with them and keep them safe.
Merciful God, Hear our prayer.

We give thanks to you, for the strong fellowship we have online but look forward to when we can get together again.
Merciful God, Hear our prayer.

God we pray for the local community;
We pray that you help us to continue RBG’s legacy that you give us confidence in doing good works just like she did.
Merciful God, Hear our prayer.

We pray that you be with the kids and teachers that must adapt and be patient
while trying to do school online.
Merciful God, Hear our prayer.

God, we pray for all in the world;
May you help them seek a better perspective, a perspective that shows everyone as equal and, may we embrace the difference we do have.
Merciful God, Hear our prayer.

God, we pray that you be with those fighting the corona and may you watch over them. Keep us all safe and healthy.
Merciful God, Hear our prayer.

God, we pray that you help those experiencing natural disasters and be with us as we go through the hurricane season.
Merciful God, Hear our prayer.

Make your presence known through our loving and caring acts as we support others in their need so that no one feels alone or unloved.

We pray all this in Christ’s name who taught us to pray in this manner:

THE LORD’S PRAYER

For the Lord’s Prayer we appreciate the diverse traditions and backgrounds that make up the Riviera family of faith, and encourage you to use whatever words for this prayer are meaningful for you.

Our Creator, who art in heaven, hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.
